The Iron Goat trail in Washington’s Central Cascades, takes you along the remains of the Pacific Northern railroad bed built to cross the Cascades in 1893. The “iron horses” had to be “iron goats” to traverse these mountains. The concrete with the mineral leeching and dripping provides an eerie backdrop to the vegetation.
