The town of Moustier-Ste-Marie is perched at the western entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, the French counterpart to the Grand Canyon located in region of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. It is a charming village in a beautiful setting. I just had to photograph this exception. It was the third story to one of the few dilapidated buildings in town. It seemed like this door was desperately seeking a balcony. It was a tribute to a lost nobility. For me their is still a beauty in the patinas of the wood and facade that antiquity has engendered. Originally I was thinking of cropping out the sky that indicates the roofline top left and the edge of the structure top right, but decided to keep them in to accentuate the tenuous of this little patch of living spae.
